Cirque de la Flamme Furieuse
Cirque de la Flamme Furieuse is a collection that focuses on picking up what has been left behind and seeing how far it can be taken.
Heavily influenced by the Hartford circus fire of 1944, the collection’s characters are directed and kept in line by the Ringmaster. She gathered what she could find from the fiery wreckage of the big top and pieced together what she calls Cirque de la Flamme Furieuse.
The collection explores the classical and recontextualises it through experimentation. Fabrics, forms and themes steeped in tradition are pulled into the pursuit of passion, to get people excited to dress and to do so extravagantly.
Warm browns, reds and dark blues come together in a collection for those unabashed in their individualism, who want a turn towards maximalism.
The show is an homage to the circus as a whole, and a cry to express. As society gets tired of quiet luxury, they hunger for an answer, for a swing of the pendulum.
Let it swing, says the Ringmaster.
